it says i have to uninstall my existing v6 using control panel, but won't that mean having to lose my existing settings?

Which settings Kenny? Don't most people use batch files or Visual Studio projects?

no particular settings, the installer starts, then without asking anything, says in a white window entitled "Windows Installer" with large light blue text:

"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel"

I think a few versions ago we used to let you just install over the top. The trouble was that then you got a line of them in 'Add Remove Programs' - one for each version. If you then chose to uninstall one of them chaos ensued.

So how do i retain my customisations (ie. what do I need to copy to a "safe place" before uninstalling the existing version?)

I think we may need to look at this. The uninstall seems to delete the authorisation file which it shouldn't and is no good for updates. You can take a copy of this file yourself (ftn95.ser) and apply the update.

Hi, Not sure if the latest download of V7 (I just downloaded - 7/10/13 4pm UK time) has been updated since the problems reported above but I installed 'over the top' without any error messages (W7/32) and all is so far working fine.
