I often use the shortcut 'F12' to comment out code/blocks of code by adding C$$$$$$ to the start of each selected line. The problem I have is with the inverse - sometimes when I use Shift + F12 to uncomment a selected (commented out) piece of code it removes ALL instances of C$$$$$$ in the whole program.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there any way to prevent it?

Many thanks!

Works OK for me. What happens if you use the buttons on the toolbar?

p.s. which IDE are you using?

Hi Paul, I'm using Plato version 4.5.0. I've never actually used the buttons, so I'm not sure if it would happen with those...I'll give that a go and see if it happens again. It's not happening every time, it seems somewhat random, so I wondered if I'm inadvertently doing something like pressing the button twice or holding it down for longer or something like that. I'll play with it and see if I can deliberately replicate the problem....

I've had a quick play with this and the only thing that I've found is that if you press and hold Ctrl + Shift + F12 that the cursor will wizz off down the program uncommenting anything it finds as it goes - but I don't think this is the cause of my problem because the view also scrolls and that doesn't happen when the problem occurs. It's almost as though occasionally Plato think 'oh surely you meant uncomment all?'. It's driving me crazy Confused

{the same thing happens with the buttons, but again I haven't been able to deliberately replicate this odd random uncommenting behaviour without scrolling the view}

A laptop touch pad can be a problem. Sometimes you can brush over it without noticing.

Hey Paul, I'm on a PC, no touchpad....I'm beginning to think I'm going crazy as I've yet to find anyone else having the same issue!

same problem here with Plato 4.61 under Windows 8: with Ctrl+F12 I can comment line by line or select a number of lines and comment them by pressing Ctrl+F12. However, if I try to uncomment the lines by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F12....nothing happens....I can only uncomment the lines by selecting "uncomment selection" from the Edit menu.....However.....if I change the shortcut to "Shift+F12" in the Options menu....it works!!!!....so it seems that there is something strange with the Ctrl + Shift combination....or...there is something funny with my old keyboard....lets me try with another PC tomorrow....
