i have just distributed my latest applications to my client and they are reporting the SIMDEM32.dll is missing.

i do not use any of the simdem features in my application.

ftn95.exe v8.74
salflibc.dll 23.6.9.12

is the inclusion of the large DLL (~10mb) now a pre-requist for distribution

regards

steve

Steve

SIMDEM32.dll is not a pre-requist for distribution.

The failure arises because the versions of ftn95 and salflibc.dll that you are using are somehow out of sync.

If you are not able to update to the latest ftn95 v8.80 then you will need to experiment with other versions or go back to the v8.70 download.

On further reflection, I suggest that you rename or remove simdem32.dll on your machine and then do a rebuild. If it works on your machine with no simdem32.dll then there is a good chance that you will be able to release it in that form.

Paul & Steve,

Steve's issue also begs (for me, at least) the question of which updated versions of which files will work with an older (i.e. not current) licensed version of FTN95. It would be great if one could use the enhancements in Clearwin (say) with an older version of the compiler. I suppose that if that option were to be available, then it would only be reasonable to expect compatibility with a major release version (i.e. 8.X), or even only a couple of versions back from the current. If the answer is 'You can't', then that's a pity, but I would understand.

(This question cannot be asked in the place in the Forum where those files are announced)

Paul

renaming simdem32.ddl and rebuilding with v8.75 & salflibc.dll (23.7.5.Cool seems to have resolve the issue

thanks

i should have checked for updates before i started updating my clients

The latest version of FTN95 (v8.80) is available to supported users, otherwise the updates provided in the sticky post (http://forums.silverfrost.com/viewtopic.php?t=4245) ) ought to be mutually compatible.

More generally it is a matter of trial and error. If it runs, then all well and good.
