I've installed Visual Studio 2008 Express with Visual C# 2008. This installs the following components.

Visual C++ Runtime Pre-requisites
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
Microsoft Windows SDK for Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Express Tools for .NET Framework (x86) - enu
Microsoft Windows SDK for Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Express Tools for Win32 (x86)
Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition with SP1
Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1 ENU
Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1 Design Tools ENU
SQL Server System CLR Types (x86)
Shared Management Objects
Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5 (x86) - Windows XP
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition (x86)

When I try to install ftn95_personal_521, all options in the Microsoft Visual Studio Integration window are grey.

You cannot use FTN95's Visual Studio plug-in with Visual Studio 2005 Express or Visual Studio 2008 Express. Microsoft have specifically disabled the installation of plug-ins in their Express products.

Thanks. I see now that this is mentioned in the Visual Studio 2008 product comparison at

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/products/cc149003.aspx

The feature 'Add-Ins enable you to create Visual Studio add-ins to extend or automate the functionality of Visual Studio' is not available in the Express editions, but is available in all other editions.
