How to compile VisualClearwin in FTN95_Examples directory

I do see some prepared for simplicity BAT files in .NET directory of FTN95 Examples

([color=olive:a41c059ef3]which is nice, otherwise I guess almost no one would try .NET who do not desperately need it for something. Still, since .NET brings some complications of fortran arrangement (and the simplicity of Fortran is the one of the main reasons of its vitality) I am sure FTN95 needs orders more such examples. Personally, I will use .NET if I will see some eye candy applications made under it. Most probably the multithreading will be my first one, it is really cool on multicore processors. Can not tell anything about Visual Clearwin yet, since it is supplied not being precompiled [/color:a41c059ef3] :roll: )

And I do not see any preloaded BAT files specifically in the Visual Clearwin directories. Like all 99.9999999% of others I never RTFM 😃

By the way, is VisualClearwin only made for .NET?

I hesitate to reply to your post for fear of exposing myself to some cutting reply. However, I can see a set of Visual ClearWin samples on my machine at C:\Program Files\Silverfrost\FTN95\demo\NET\Visual ClearWin.

These are set in the context of Visual Studio solutions and without Visual Studio it would be quite difficult to make any progress with Visual ClearWin.

Visual ClearWin is only for .NET.

ClearWin+ is designed for Win32. ClearWin+ can be used in a limited way under .NET and, when I get time, I plan to make it (almost) fully functional under .NET. Note, however, that ClearWin+ will never be platform independent.

Sorry for seemingly sharp angles, I did not mean to cut anyone, specifically developers of the best fortran compiler. Anyone should see our local scientific seminars for really tough stuff 😃

Is this latest release with demo dir? I installed mine approx 2.5 months ago and asked already about Examples which from first glance were missing. Got the answer and the directory where they were (X:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\My Documents\FTN95 Examples\NET) from here:

Tried the whole computer search - I do not see any demo dir at all.

I have downloaded the latest personal edition on to a clean machine and I find that by default the samples end up in 'My Documents'\FTN95 Examples\NET\Visual ClearWin.

The Visual ClearWin sample solutions may be for an earlier version of Visual Studio to the one that you have. Unfortunately the Microsoft automatic solution upgrade does not do everything that is needed. So you may need to recreate any cross linking between 'projects' within a given 'solution'. It may also be necessary to recreate some of the 'references'.

I am really curious to take a look at Visual Clearwin, compare it to Clearwin+ etc. Can these examples be compiled and supplied with installation in the next release ? It is interesting if the color dream of all fortran users for truly 'Visual Fortran' where we gather applications out of ready blocks using mouse drag and clicks finally came through 😃

Is it like latest SDK for creating applications for iPhone, click-click-click-drag-drag-drag and GUI is ready? (I hope all here saw Steve Jobs and his team presentation about SDK in June). That what I would like to see if not now, then some day.

As I tried to explain, the samples are available in the current release. They are not compiled but the Visual Studio 'solutions' are provided for you to build if you have Visual Studio.

No, I don't have latest VS. I deleted it so many times in the past, so I do not buy it anymore. Would it be easier just to supply EXEs of examples in the new release? As a suggestion, try to survey what percentage of people compiled Visual Clearwin, it is easy to arrange on this site.

The EXEs, if they are numerous and catchy may provide some incentives. Sorry, this is of human nature to not ask for troubles before seeing real eye candy 😃
