I have been using Version 4.9 (personal edition) in Windows ME. I installed Version 5.01. When I ran Plato, I got the message 'Plato3 has caused an error in PLATO3.EXE. Plato3 will now close'. Uninstalling both versions and re-installing V5.01 didn't fix the problem.
Version 5.01 - Plato won't run
At what point does it fail?
You could try downloading again.
There were no major changes between these versions so I cannot think of a reason for the failure.
Unfortunately I do not have access to a Windows ME machine although I might be able to test under Windows 98. Incidentally these operating systems are nolonger supported by Microsoft.
It fails immediately: the error window is all that is displayed.
Rather than downloading V5.01 again, I tried V5.00, which I had previously downloaded but not installed. The problem was just the same.
I also tried another computer, running Windows 98, with the same result.
I intend to get a new computer with Vista soon. I hope I won't be out of the frying pan and into the fire 😃.
My guess is the Plato will run under Vista but I haven't tried it yet. When I get time I will test it again under Windows 98. Windows XP/2000 are standard.
