No matter what I've tried, I cannot create a fixed format file that I can OPEN DIRECT with FTN95 (Personal). I'm using KEDIT to create the files, running under XP. I've even tried creating the DA file under program control but it always end up as variable length, LRECL 1024. I suspect the problem lies in the operating system itself, but? Any clues? Suggestions of where to look?
