Interrupting the Debug Mode

9 Feb 2018 9:11 #21359

Dear Plato

When I get into the DEBUG mode by Single Step mode 'F7', Plato successfully proceeds. But When I want to stop the Debugger and come back to normal Code Editor mode, I am not able to come back. Even if I exit or kill the SDBG Debugger window and Command window which are opened separately, during debugging mode, still I am not able to edit the code text in the Plato editor. How do I stop and/or Interrupt the debugger to come back to normal Plato editor mode?

I am using the Plato 4.81.

I think I have found out the solution here.

I have enabled the 'Integrate with SDBG' under Tools ⇒ Option ⇒ Environment.

But this opens only the 'Command Prompt' window to show the live outputs while debugging each line. But where will the Step Over, Step Into buttons be viewable. Where is the 'run to cursor' option available, so that the debugger will start from the curser point onwards.

Plato has two ways to interact with SDBG and the choice is made in the Options dialog (on the Tools menu). Either select 'Integrate with SDBG' or not.

When not integrated, Plato just launches SDBG and Plato and SDBG are separate and independent applications - so I don't think that Plato will stop you from editing files whilst the debugger is still active.

When integrated, output from the debugger is displayed within Plato and Plato should prevent you from editing whilst the debugger is running. In other words, you must exit from debugging mode before editing.
