[plato build error

15 Jan 2015 3:52 #15308

:?: On some build attempts this message comes back: $ ITSF [SLINK/Win32 v 1.45 Copyright (c) Silverfrost Ltd. 1995-2013] *** Don't understand ITSF *** Compilation abandoned Compilation failed

When I double-click on the above error message, this comes up:

[SLINK/Win32 v 1.45 Copyright This file does not exist. Your current options prevent opening.

Other than the obvious question as to what is causing this error, what option is the message referencing?

This is the program in question program first real :: x,y print *, 'This is my first program.' print *, 'Enter x and y.' read *, x,y print *, 'x and y are: ',x,y end program first

This is not actually my first program; it is just the first attempt to use Plato. I have been running ftn95 with good success since 1996 with very little trouble, including this simple one. The motivation for going to Plato was to get more meaningful run time error messages.

Plato is just an editor than can access FTN95. It won't give you more than what you get using FTN95 directly.

I don't know what is going wrong here but there is a file called BuildLog that will show the commands issued by Plato in the last build process.

If Plato has not debugging capability, is there anything in the ftn95 collection that can be used to decipher the non-descriptive run time errors?

The FTN95 debugger for Win32 applications is called SDBG.exe. This can be accessed directly or Plato will call this for you when you click the right button etc.

I don't know if the debugger will help you in this context.
