i am getting back into fortran programming after MANY years! Used to use f77 a lot, and now downloaded ftn95 personal edition to try it out. It fails saying it will only work on tablet pc version of XP. Any solutions? Also, PLATO seems to be a useful development environment. Is there any need to go to Visual; Studio? Thanks ted Smith

I am puzzled by your message because FTN95 should install correctly on any Win32 platform including any of the various XP versions.
You cannot use Plato to debug a .NET program nor to create resources (bitmaps, dialogs etc) otherwise for the Fortran programmer it has similar features.
