missing width count for 'E' descriptor

 I  have  included   the  following  statement:

         WRITE  (UNIT = 15,  FMT = '(E)' )    GAIN  ,  RPP,  X,  Y

 

However, I have received the following compiler error message:

   ***   Missing  width  count  for  'E'  descriptor

Appreciate  your  advise  as  to  how  to  resolve  this  issue

May I suggest that you start reading a manual about Fortran 😦)

The form of the E descriptor is (in its simple form) Ew.d where w is the total field width and d the number of digits required. w > d+7

So you try

  WRITE(UNIT=15, FMT='(4E16.8)')  GAIN, RPP, X, Y
