saving Plato / SDBG window sizes

30 Oct 2012 9:08 #10936

After I've resized the Plato window to the size I want, how do I save the setting so that Plato opens with that window size next time.

Norm Campbell

PS And the same question, for when I'm running sdbg.

Sorry about the second posting (previously under 'Plato') but I'd really like an answer to this. I'm sure it's simple. but I can't see how to do it, and it's really bugging me.

Plato stores some of its data in the registry and some in Plato.ini (or Plato3.ini depending on which operating system you have and where Plato.exe is located).

The location and size of the main window is stored in Plato.ini under [OpenFiles] and M= ....

Assuming that you are using Windows 7 and that Plato.exe is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Silverfrost\FTN95 and you are not running Plato 'As administrator' then you should find Plato.ini in %APPDATA%\Silverfrost\FTN95. (Blame Microsoft for this.)

If the position and size are not being restored then something is going wrong with the redirection or the access rights to Plato.ini. If you can 'Run as administrator' and the problem goes away then this will give you a clue.

One solution is to move Plato (together with its data files) away from the protected 'Program Files' folder.

The data files for Plato are Plato.ini, ClipLib.ini, UserClipLib.ini and English.lex.

Hi Paul

Interestingly, Plato3.ini is under the Silverfrost directory on my old machine (running under Windows 7), but not on my new machine.

On the old machine, Plato was saving the dimensions of the resized window correctly.

So I set the window to the size I wanted on the old machine, and copied the .ini file across to the Silverfrost directory on the new machine. Probably not the most elegant solution, but it worked.

So many thanks, as usual.

Cheers Norm
