How do I give my application an icon?

The trick here is to use the RESOURCES statement. This passes everything that follows it through to the resource compiler:

PROGRAM icontest
PRINT *,'This program has an icon'
END
RESOURCES
myIcon ICON c:myicon.ico

This works for Win32 and .NET
