My suggestion is to have a grey control for the whole contents of a %ob/%cb box. This might include greying out the box title (if there is one).
As it stands, all controls within the box could have the same grey control - which would have the effect of switching them all on or off at the same time, but then you can't do them all individually later.
A further alternative is to draw the encompassing window without the 'boxload' of controls (if they are all disabled), although that means working out the aesthetics of two or more layouts.
This is merely a suggestion for consideration in the 'long list', as I don't even have an application in mind, and wouldn't miss this facility if it was never implemented.
