There exist nice handy program called NetMeter which shows your traffic and allows to do some things with it
Anyone knows how to reproduce it with Clearwin/ WinAPI ? It could be that the call to 1-2 built-in network functions (how many bites is getting in and how many out) is doing the trick. Everything else is easily doable in Clearwin (and the source probably will be even 20 times shorter)
