Posting code

I tried posting to this forum with several lines of text followed by some Fortran code. Seeing the [code] box, I first clicked it then pasted the code in place.

Clicking [Preview] displayed the message with the code displayed as expected, with spacings and indentations as intended.

Reverting to the previous page and clicking [Submit] showed the post was accepted, but the code was not displayed in the desired format when I subsequently fetched the submission.

What steps did I miss?

use code* to terminate the code inclusion. You can edit your post and fix if you need. Also, Code always applies at the end of the post. There is also a limit on the size of a post, which preview does not appear to apply !
