I/O problem

I'm having trouble with this seemingly trivial write statement.

write (CDATE,'(I4,I2.2,I2.2)') YEAR, MON, DAY

The program prints CDATE, YEAR, MON, DAY on the screen but would not output it to a file. Can someone help me with this please? Fonya
