Version 5.40 and visual studio

Hi!

I tried to upgrade from version 5.30 to 5.40 but I encountered this problem: in visual studio IDE was impossible to open existing projects or creating new FTN95 projects. An error message was displaied saying it was impossible to find the file 'ftn95 application.ftn95p'. I tried prompting the command 'devenv /restoreskippkgs' but it resulted useless. Finally I restored the 5.30 version and everything works fine.

Did anyone experencied this problem? Thank you for any help!

P.S. I run FTN95 with visual studio 2008 pro on windows vista business x64.

Just to add that I tried to install FTN95 PE on an other pc with windows xp 32bit and there is exactly the same problem.

We are aware of a problem with the Visual Studio 2008 plugin. It has been built using an updated version of the Microsoft VC runtime that seems not to be present on all machines. We have rebuilt the main installer to contain a fix, but this is not yet live. Until we make the full installer live, you can download and install:

This contains the correct runtimes. To install this plugin you will need to install the full build of 5.40, uninstall the FTN95 for Visual Studio 2008 plugin from add/remove programs and then use the MSI above.

The full installer containing the correct plugin will be made live soon and I will update this thread when this is so.

I'm not able to use the visual studio plugin. FTN appears in the project types, and the 3 possibility offered by FTN apperars (application, aplication extension and clearwin). I have VS2008 professional, italian version. I tried with a fresh 5.4 version (just downloaded), I tryed with the msi recomanded previously in this topic, , and also with the 5.3 version. I obtain only a message:

'Impossibile aprire C:\programmi\silverfrost\ftn95\ftn95 for Microsoft visual studio\FTN95prjProject\FTN95Application.ftn95p perchè il relativo tipo di progetto non è supportato dalla versione corrente di Visual Studio' .

The message is in italian, my translation in English is 'Impossible to open C:\programmi\silverfrost\ftn95\ftn95 for Microsoft visual studio\FTN95prjProject\FTN95Application.ftn95p because this type of project is not supported by the actual version of Visual studio'

May be the first time your vs 2008 failed loading FTN95 plug-in, it was disabled. Try to open the command line (Start> Programmi> Microsoft VS 2008> Visual Studio Tools> Prompt dei comandi) and prompt the following line: ' devenv /resetskippkgs ' (of course without quotes) then press enter.

OK, thanks... i dont know if now I intalled last version, but i will uninstall all, and reinstall last version. -- I have to study a lot to use help, editor etc... Thanks again MArco
