In VS 2005, create a new free-format Fortran source file (or open an existing one). Just add a line containing "end if" without a matching "if" and try to save. VS goes belly up every time.

Any unmatched "end if" causes this to happen so my habbit of hitting Ctrl+S every 5 minutes makes life a bit tense !

I cannot reproduce this, could you post a code sample that exhibits the behaviour, simply creating a file with the described unmatched 'end if' does not crash on me.
