Hi. I am using Plato to program using Fortran 95 on Windows. Whenever I want to compile it takes such a long time to open the commands window. It shows a screen telling me who made Plato while waiting. I've used Fortran on other systems before, and they were never that slow, and the command window didn't keep shutting when I tested the prgram once.
So I would like to know, how do I make it faster, if possible. And how do I keep that window open?

I am puzzled by the behaviour that you report.
Can you post a screen shot of the message that you get?
Try running FTN95 directly from a command prompt window (DOS box) to see if the compiler is working OK. The help file tells you how to do this. |

The screen shot that you have sent to me shows the standard message that is displayed when using the free Personal Edition. It is there to slow things down and to encourage you to buy a licenced version.
If you are not using the Personal Edition then you should report this to Silverfrost. |

Thank you for providing an answer to my problem. I thought I was using Fortran V 4.80. I actually paid for it, and I am surprised I got a free PE Fortran instead. I will be checking whether it was a genuine mistake.

If you were asked for licence information with you installed FTN95 then you will not have the Personal edition.
However, if you have moved FTN95.exe so that it nolonger resides in the same folder as the licence file then the effect will be the same as having the PE. |
