The upper line of the data border for %RF and %RD is missing under XP (XP 5.1 Service Pack 1, FTN95 4.50). Under Windows 2000 the full data border is visible.

WINAPP 0,0
A=1.0; N=1
IW=WINIO@('%CA[Testmenü]&')
IW=WINIO@('%NL A %RF &',A)
IW=WINIO@('%2NL N %3RD&',N)
IW=WINIO@('%NL %NL%TT[Close]')
STOP
END

Thanks in advance for any help.

The upper line of the box border shows OK on my XP system - although I did need to make A into "real*8".

I get missing lines (in all sorts of applications) when I use non-native resolutions on a LCD screen - maybe it isn't FTN95 that is your problem.

A series of tests under XP home and professional has shown that the data border seems to be correct under the professional version and the upper line is missing under the home version. Are you using XP Home or Professional?

I'm using XP home and I concur with Eddie in having no problem (other than having to declare A as double precision)

I recently put something on a new ACER laptop, only to find the very missing line issue you reported. Oddly, it is the top line of the box, not any other lines. The laptop uses an ATI X700 graphics system on a very hi res (1600x1000) LCD. Presumably it is a driver issue. The problem looks less acute if the background is grey, but more acute when the background is white.

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this?

I don't seem to get a problem with any computer running XP Professional - the only computer that gives a problem is running XP Home (my laptop). A different brand of laptop using the same graphics system (but XP Professional) doesn't show the problem.

Eddie

You will get a variety of results depending upon

1) Your screen resolution.

2) (On a laptop) the DPI setting.

3) Whether or not you are using a manifest for an XP theme.

The appearance also depends upon whether it is a custom control for ClearWin+ or a ClearWin+ control that is an interface to a Microsoft control. The latter kind can usually take an XP theme/style if you use a manifest.

You can often get greater control of borders etc if you use a control based on a native Microsoft control. In particular, you get more choice if you use %di but this feature has a longer learning curve and you need a dialog editor.
