I've had the following odd things happen. V9.04.00
First: In Plato, when I need help, I am asked whether I wish to open the HELP file. Every time. New behavior, absolutely, after the latest release.
Second: McAfee now begins "scanning" something (McAfee Framework Host Service is the culprit) that
1. Slows the system down (it is using one CPU full time, if I start another application, it picks another one and fully occupies it).
2. Holds my executable "hostage" preventing me from rebuilding it until the process "finishes" (this can take 5 minutes or more) even after the program has terminated.
3. Behavior of item 2 can be "disabled" by turning off real-time scanning.
I have listed salflibc.dll as "not to scan", but that made no difference. Everything, and I mean everything, appears to now have this problem.
I have had this "stalling" problem when running Plato (earlier versions) but it was sporadic. I got around it by using Plato to build the SW, then running it from a CMD window directly. I have never had this before when building the software using my non-Plato process, executing it, and not being able to update for long periods.
Anyone else having these or similar issues?

Plato v6 is affected by what appears to be a bug in Windows 11 that prevents it from launching FTN95.chm.
As a work-around, Plato v6 uses PlatoHelper.exe to launch FTN95.chm.
A simple alternative is to create a direct link to FTN95.chm and put it on your desktop or Taskbar. But the F1 help will not work this way.
Plato does not access salflibc.dll internally. It will access clearwin64.dll in certain contexts (for example when using the internal 64 bit debugger) but it only loads this DLL when it first uses it.
This appears to be a Microsoft issue which is still causing problems. |

Thanks, Paul! The Plato HELP file is more of an annoyance than anything.
The McAfee issue: I'll report it and see if they can tell me the why behind it taking so dang long, and why. |

I have long found having FTN95.CHM on the desktop as Paul suggests to be a good thing anyway. The same can be said for CWPLUS.enh and FTN95.enh, although they need to be read in Notepad.
