Guys, 500 million people switched from 32bits to 64bits when Apple have done that for computers and cellphones and all went so quietly that not a single one ever complained or noticed. When i switched to 64bits John Campbell was first to try and told everyone how. And Mecej4 helped with recompiling DLL. Paul helped a lot too and some others after that. Kudos to all. Done.
For the advanced people like you this could not be a problem to recompile and convince others who depend on your software to switch. Your major excuse could that SCC might not be yet 64bit-ready. Or you supply your programs to Neanderthals. But even if they are that low level life or total technophobes, good news is that at least most probably their hardware is already 64bit-ready for a long time.
Not sure many need real*10. I needed but this was because i was too lazy to modify the method, while real*10 extended simple like 2*2 brute force method's life (in some cases method generated real numbers like 10^4096 instead of 10^302 like with usual double precision). Other minor things with new FP instructions also exist, they are not important at all. Those old Intel FP instructions are dead anyway, ARM cellphone, desktop and server processors eventually will kill all competitors |
