There are couple good trends
1) people switch to large 4k and 8k monitors. Such screens magnify all small defects of graphics and should speed up fixes.

2) Computer graphics in games, business apps and internet blogs become more and more amazing. My impression is that all major scientific journals are competing not just in quality of content but in quality of graphics too. Einstein would be rejected in all journals till he made the nice looking pictures of relativity theory Smile. Your grant applications will be rejected if there is no good graphics emphasizing your ideas. I hope that Fortran graphics plots which still look not very different from this

will eventually catch them up even in default settings Smile

But the users have to see many flashy examples of using native %PL. Such programs have to be so small (some ultimately just couple lines of Fortran) and so nice looking that even hardcore Fortran users will stop procrastination and start using %PL. More users means faster updates and fixes.

Also as we saw recently Paul is working on global upgrade of %PL. The fixes of older code in this case have no any sense because in the new %PL you will be able to change anything you want the way fits you just with few clicks. And all plotting in some cases is done in one Fortran line
