...is damn pure disaster, it is a hell to be among first adopters of anything, lost one week trying to change something so that it will be happy. To polish any software hundreds of actively responding users are required. It is crashing the plot with native PL same way like before older PL. Can not get myself out of this hole...I'd probably give up, it is ridiculous to spent so much time not able to plot simple graph but i have another similar plot doing almost the same stuff and it works like charm...Something is still deeply wrong with this approach when GUI crashes with access violations and give you no clue what could be wrong |

That was not some empty trolling. Isn't it outrageous to fail for a week to make a plot using 20 years of experience with older PL and having working examples with new PL?
My post has to look like this
Monday:
- changed new pl to old pl - no crash, returned back - crash
- changed from LOG_LINEAR to LINEAR - still crash
- looked at the data plotted - all looks OK, but %pl still crash
- compared to another similar example which works OK - no substantial differences found
- changes this , changed that - it still crash
Tuesday: :
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- ......................................
Wednesday :
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- ......................................
Thursday :
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- ......................................
Friday :
- Five days I still have nothing but rashes
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- ......................................
Saturday :
- All having fun but I am still trying having crash in stupid plot
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- ......................................
Sunday :
- All having fun but I am still trying to find the crash reason
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- changes this , changed that - still crash
- ......................................
You guys are writing but are not using %pl for your job (otherwise centering caption on the plot would not take almost a year) while we do and the failures like this have to give you a notice. If I'd have the source of %pl i immediately found what causes the crash but since this will never be an option and for users the %pl is just the black box which we feed with data and it sometimes spews access violation cash without a saying.
The mentioned notice ideally would be the verbose or debug mode of %pl when user choses it and the %pl instead of just crash will tell exactly why bad thing happened. That would be new level in user-friendliness of software.
It will be impossible to make GUI or plotting software bullet-proof against of any torture, so the debug mode would help users a lot. In my own graphics utilities i made tons of warnings and info messages and if something is not right i get the reason. The new PL has only one so far when LOG scale data gets zeroes in data feed. This has to be expanded adding kind of debug option allowing to make no warning at all, or allow warnings, suggestions, comments etc. |

OK but your posts so far give me nothing to work on.
Access violations can sometimes be avoided within ClearWin+ by anticipating what the user might do wrong but not always.
Zip it up and send it to me. Maybe it's something that can easily be identified at this end. |

I'm surprised SIMPLEPLOT_REDRAW@ actually works at all with native %pl as I thought the 2 were mutually excusive entities ? _________________ ''Computers (HAL and MARVIN excepted) are incredibly rigid. They question nothing. Especially input data.Human beings are incredibly trusting of computers and don't check input data. Together cocking up even the simplest calculation ... " |
