As with some of the live issues associated with the debugger at the moment, this is one is intermittent. I often find, when opening Plato, that the build toolbar has vanished, and I have to go back into the [View] menu and re-check it. But if there is a way to make it happen reproducibly, I have yet to find it. It does not, for example, depend on what build option is selected when Plato is closed down. |

I have never experienced that problem. If you get any clues on how to reproduce the problem then please let me know.
Project or not project?
Toolbar docked or not docked?
No file open or one or more files open?
I can check to see if the data is stored continuously or when Plato is closed. As I recall, the data is in the registry in this case. |

Hi Paul,
Happy to help as far as I am able. FWIW, I just opened Plato and the toolbar has gone missing again. It may or may not be relevant that the main window also opened up with an area of only about 40% of the screen area - which also happens regularly and which I had forgotten to mention (I invariably work with it maximized, so it's very noticeable when it opens up shrunken).
To answer the specific questions you asked:
- project or not project? Project. I almost invariably turn even small applets with only one or two files into projects.
- docked or not docked? Docked. Until you asked the question, and I undocked it to confirm that it could be undocked, I had never even seen it in this state (though obviously I know that docked or undocked is a standard attribute for any toolbar).
- no or one or more files open? More than one. I have the Tools-Options-Restore project at startup checkbox checked.
Other things that might be relevant:
- integrate with SDBG, or not. Not. I have tried this briefly once or twice but on the whole I don't get on with it.
- any other issues that appear to be relevant? Yes. I was looking over some of my recent posts yesterday and I had forgotten about this one:

for which you currently have the last word with "I can guess what is going wrong and will investigate".
In case it helps, here is the contents of my plato3.ini file:

Thanks Andy.
I did do the investigation and (as I thought) fixed the problem.
Now I have checked my version number of Plato I find that it is 4.40 (this includes the fix and ought to be the current release).
Is this what you get with the current download?
I can check this for myself later.

The version of Plato I that am using is 4.3.0. So I presume this is the version supplied with the current download, since I am up to date with v6.0 of FTN95.
I just noticed that the ini file is called plato3.ini and Plato3 is a fairly distant ancestor of Plato (which is still to be found in my FTN95 install directory). Is there any significance in the fact that Plato is still using the same ini file as Plato3 (at least on my machine)? |

Plato is still set up to use Plato3.ini rather than Plato.ini.
This was just to allow the settings to be ported when Plato3 became Plato. |
