It would be really convenient if there was a facility for making %rf always display just a fixed number of decimal places.
OK, I know that I can do this by converting to a string using an internal write and using %rs ... but I did say convenient (and not essential!).

A good idea for %`rf, but possibly not for %rf, as what would happen during data entry? It would be unwise to respond to each keystroke in that case and forcing %co[check_on_focus_loss] for such controls would perhaps be required.
Typical usage would of course be %`10.2rf.

My particular application would be helped by it being available in %`rf as Ian notes. I can see a use in %rf, but accept there are difficulties.
I remember now seeing Wilfried's earlier request.
