It is unclear if using the INQUIRE function for a user-defined driver to return a current status is permitted, and how that would be done.
In the description of a user-defined driver, for example, IFAIL=1 is used to signal to the calling routine that there has been a problem. I don't see any way to set the equivalent of an IOSTAT= value to be returned.
And if there is not, I can deal with it! |

| I can't imagine that there will be any connection but if you want to send me the driver together with a test program then I will look inside INQUIRE to see what happens. |

Paul, thanks for the offer! I don't see it as worth your time to investigate. I was wondering if there was something I had missed in the DRIVER section of the manual. I got curious as I was twiddling with some of my DRIVER code and was left wondering.
