what does this messages mean exactly :-

*** Invalid module file format

... when running a 32 bit compilation

It concerns a 3rd party supplied module which is invokdìed by 'USE' at the beginning of the program.

Any way I can investigate the cause further ?

Module file (*.mod, *.mod64) content and format are specific to compiler, target architecture and, sometimes, compiler version.

You need to obtain the Fortran source for the module and compile it before the module file so generated can be USEd in your source code.

ah I knew I could depend on you mecej4 ... could be the last item you list as it's noted as intended (presumeably compiled with) SF

There's a seperate x64 version too (which I've not tried, and that's noted as SF v. 8.30 64bit, although I don't understand the need for that as ftn95 itself is 32bit only (the 64bit referring to the executable it generates).

I'll make some enquiries.
