Specific Forum 'Topic' Informing Users of dllxx Releases
(... or ... The Story of the Hare Who Lost His DLLs)

OK, here's a request that I've raised several times in individual posts since I've been on the ftn95 train. In vain.

I just by complete chance dropped upon the post:-
http://forums.silverfrost.com/viewtopic.php?t=3254
... and it's comment on 20th december 2018 from Paul where dlls29 were 'released'.

Now, previously I only knew that dlls27 were in play (directly after release of v8.4).

So provoking the obvious inquiries of the grey matter ... where were the dlls28 introduced ? , and are there any others since december ?
... where were his spectacles? could he have mislaid them ?

Questions, questions, questions .... which are not revealable either by a simple search, since searching for 'dlls' in the forums search, neither 'silverfrost dlls' in Lord Google, doth not revealeth their presence ans so doth not provideth the answer.
Prompting me to go in search of the optish-i-an.

Questions which would be easily served by a specific forum topic for recording all the intermediate dll releases (with minimum effort, simply copying and pasting the relevent comment from the relevant (cross-referenced)post where they are introduced.

A 'closed' (for user comments) forum topic just for recording the dll releases.

Similar to that for the main releases 'announcements' topic, but obviously not included there to avoid confusion as it wouldn't be good to mix official releases and Beta dll Releases for Interim Bug Fixes & Enhancements Checking.

All comments of course being made on the originating cross-referenced post and/or new post as required if other issues were identified.

[ This Request culturally inspired by the long-eared one ...

My rambling previous post obviously confuddled peoples brains.

Anyway, Here's the latest example ....

I just found this post from a couple of days ago:-
http://forums.silverfrost.com/viewtopic.php?t=3966

... where DLLs32 (for v8.4) are now made available for download, with not much description of what has changed in them except that it probably solves the problem on that specific post.

So, when/where did DLLs29,30&31 appear ?
And what changes were in them (which are now cumulativly incorporated in DLLs32 (I assume)) ?

There really should be at least a simple list of what is 'fixed/included' in the se DLLs when they are released, otherwise we're working blindly with them.

Also, and this has been mentioned before, a long long time ago now, but searching for 'DLLsXX)' in the forum search facility is absolutely useless !

I agree that a specific forum section for locating updates would be helpful for tracking adoption of more recent interim releases. It could possible be added into announcements with an appropriate indication as an interim or part release.

It can be difficult to know if it is ok to download a recent .dll, when previous interim releases have not been taken up.

This is not intended to create a lot of work, as I would hope some record of what has been released should have some benefits for all. ( could even get a sub version id to assist with identifying ? )

Thank you for the feedback.

The intention is that interun DLL releases are always progressive in that a new release always includes all earlier fixes.

Interim updates are provided in response to specific bug reports so it seems to me to be appropriate to provide the notification only in that context.

These updates come with a health warning (they are effectively beta releases). In my opinion general notification would not be a good idea.

So where are the posts where we find DLLs 29,30&31 released , just to know what's been changed in them (and hence in DLLs32 ) ?
