I have some old code (seems a common thread here) that makes use of the ClearWin+ subroutine clearwin_mode$.

I'm porting it to 64 bit, but this function is not in the 64 bit DLL and is not documented anywhere else. It's one of those few words that has zero hits in Google.

I suspect it is not used any more and was a workaround for an issue. Has anyone else seen / used it? Can I safely comment it out?

It appears to set up the IO stream parameters (stdin->flags etc.) and is probably redundant. Try leaving it out. If the IO still works then you are OK.
