|
|
I found that FTN95 Personal V8 is now available at http://silverfrost.com/32/ftn95/personal_edition.aspx , and that page seems to advertise that the personal edition can produce 64-bit EXEs, since one of the highlights is "32- and 64-bit compiler". However, after downloading and installing, I find that the compiler says
Quote: | [FTN95/Win32 Ver. 8.00.0 Copyright (c) Silverfrost Ltd 1993-2016]
*** The personal edition is not available in FTN95/64
|
if the /64 compiler option is given.
Please clarify the policy. I hope that if you continue to make the personal edition available you will not exclude 64-bit users.

That was not our intention. The Personal Edition should have included the ability to use the 64-bit compiler but a mistake caused it to be turned off. We will rectify this shortly. |

Quite soon hopefully. Work on FTN95 is on going. That means we cannot just release a new version -- we have to make sure it is stable and then run a huge range of tests. |

I appreciate that any software should be tested thoroughly before release of course , however I'm confused here - the 'paying version' has been released but the PE version has not, the only difference essentially being the need to include the 'this is not a paid commercial version' pop-up to avoid commercial useage.
If it's of a state to release at all then surely it's in a state to release in PE form. Abov eall because that would I suppose help you in identifying any bugs along the way in the early releases.
Addendum -
after writing the above I checked and I see that there is now a V8.05 PE version for download. Does that version include x64 functionality now or is it still on hold pending the QA checking mentioned above for PE ? |
