Yes and no.

The variables may be declared in the sense that they have been declared in the start of the program, e.g. ponzi is declared in this program start.

I'd agree with Hicham.

Chapman's book is most suitable for those of us who just use Fortran as a tool - our main job being as engineer, scientist, etc.

Reid & Metcalf is more for those with ...
